Racing in the Western Cape has never been more active than it is at present. We currently run formats that will suit riders of all abilities. The racing classes at present are as follows:
Superbikes:
These guys are seriously fast and competitive and a number of national riders take part in our regional championship. The ABC class is time based and split into three groups A, B, and C. This format allows superbike riders of different abilities to compete in the same race and even stand a chance of winning the regional championship. This series is sponsored by Mike Hopkins Motorcycles.
Regional 600s:
These bikes are all national spec machines. They are limited to modifications stipulated in the national rules. They run in the same race as the Superbikes. This class is also sponsored by Mike Hopkins Motorcycles. (Click to read more...)
BOTTS (battle of the twins):
This series is for twin cylinder machines. The sponsor of this category is Biketique. They have several racing packages available to assist competitors who are interested in competing in this class. The BOTTS race is run in conjunction with the Powersport, Vintage Superbikes, New Era, and class D classes. If a BOTTS rider laps in under 1min 27 secs he/she is also eligible to compete in the ABC race. (click to read more...)
Powersport:
This class is predominantly made up of 400cc Japanese 4 cylinder machines, but SV650 Suzuki`s and 250 production two-strokes are also allowed to compete. This format represents a cost effective way of racing. Mike Hopkins Motorcycles are the sponsors of this class.
Vintage Superbikes/New Era:
These are older bikes that evoke feelings of nostalgia. Among the vintage superbikes we have a selection of Japanese muscle bikes competing against more nimble Italian lightweights. The front of this field is occupied by the New Era class which comprises machines manufactured from 1st January 1984 to 31st December 1985. This class is sponsored by Mike Hopkins Motorcycles. Class D:
These are the guys starting out and also those who prefer to race at a more sedate pace. Class D competes in the same race as the Powersport, Vintage Superbikes, New Era, and BOTTS classes. Class D is sponsored by Mike Hopkins Motorcycles
